Woodchucks
Woodchucks are a common farm and garden pest. Their love for
home grown vegetables is well known. Weighing 5-15 lbs. and
16-20 inches long excluding their dark bushy tails. Their course
brown fur is sprinkled with grey. Strong and active, woodchucks
can swim, climb trees and dig amazing burrow systems with
multiple tunnels and chambers causing major damage to decks
and foundations. Woodchucks hibernate from October through
February. Breading occurs February through March and a litter of
4-6 young are born May through June. Young woodchucks are
weaned at 6 weeks and are able to live on their own by the end of
summer.
